A Friendly Reminder from the Leroy Meats Team 
Deer season is one of our busiest — and most important — times of the year. Our team takes great pride in making sure every deer is processed with the utmost care and attention to quality. One of our owners is personally working alongside our cutters to ensure you receive the best possible yield and product from your deer.
We understand that sometimes the amount of meat returned can be surprising, but please know that every deer is different. Our goal is always to preserve as much as possible while maintaining the highest quality standards.
That said, we want to make something very clear: rudeness, swearing, or threats toward our staff or company will not be tolerated. Any such behavior will be immediately reported to law enforcement.
We truly appreciate our loyal customers and understand the frustrations that come with fewer processors being available this season. However, our employees — especially those answering phones or taking orders and working the counter — deserve respect. Many of them aren’t directly involved in the processing but are always happy to help resolve any issues quickly and fairly.
If there’s ever a concern with your order, please call us respectfully, and we’ll do everything we can to make it right — just as we always have.

Our pricing is based on the green weight of your deer. Additional charges may apply to poorly trimmed or skinned deer. The price per pound is determined by the combination of venison and pork/beef added to create the final product. Please be aware that prices are subject to change.
Smoking
We take in any game to smoke all year long at our Horicon or Fox Lake Locations (not Ripon). The price of smoking is $2.29/lb. (is subject to change at any time). If cryovac bags are requested, it will create additional costs of $0.50/per bag. The way you bring in your wild game, is the way we smoke it. We do not debone or fillet any animal.
Farm Animals
We do not butcher or have a kill floor for farm animals. However, we do partner with some farmers to coordinate this for them. If you would like more information call Steve at 920-763-2306.

Venison Drop-off Requirements
FULL DEER AT FOX LAKE ONLY
Full Deer Venison Drop-off Information
- Full deer are only accepted at our Fox Lake Wild Game Processing Center. Across the street from our Fox Lake retail location.
- A $50 deposit is mandatory at drop off for every full deer dropped off. Any amount paid at drop-off will be applied to the final invoice.
- Cash discount only applies when FULL payment is all in cash at the time of drop off.
- We insist that all full deer must be field dressed. Failure to do so may result in refusal, additional fees and/or a reduction in the end product.
- There is a after-hours cooler to drop your deer for all seasons, except during gun season. Please follow the directions posted and we will call you the next day for your order. Payment envelopes are onsite for deposit.
- GUN SEASON: We only accept deer from 8am-5pm (unless otherwise posted above.) No after hours drop-off during this season.
- We will be CLOSED Thanksgiving Day and the day after, no after-hours drop off is available these days either.
- Quarters with bones must be taken to the Fox Lake Wild Game Processing Center. If Quarters are boneless, you may take them to any of our retail locations.
Boneless Venison and Boneless Large Wild Game
- Please note that we do not accept whole deer drop-offs at our retail stores at Horicon, Fox Lake or Ripon locations.
- We accept boneless during normal business hours:
SEPTEMBER 1ST – MARCH 31ST ONLY
- Your boneless meat must be in clear, non-scented, bags to be accepted.
- We have the right to refuse any product not up to our standards.
- Important Note: We do not accept any wild game meat brought in scented bags. Please use clear, unscented bags for your meat.
- Any bone-in meat must be taken to our Wild Game Processing Center in Fox Lake.
Game Bird
- Please note that we only accept game bird at our Fox Lake retail store; 749 West State Street, Fox Lake, WI 53933.
- Pick up is offered at all three of our retail stores, Horicon, Fox Lake or Ripon.
- We accept boneless game bird during normal business hours:
LAST TWO WEEKS OF MARCH: March 14th – March 29th, 2026.
- Your boneless meat must be in clear, non-scented, bags to be accepted. We do not take bone-in game bird.
- We have the right to refuse any product not up to our standards.
Donating a Deer
- Yes, we are a location where you can donate your deer meat to local food pantries.
- However, you must have the head tested for CWD at the self-serve kiosk located on site.
Special Requests and Meat Return
We regret to inform you that we are no longer able to accommodate special requests or batches of your own meat.
The products listed are the only options available for processing your boneless meat.
Lead Times
- During the beginning of deer season, there is an estimated lead time of 8-10 weeks for sausage or fresh products made from your trim.
- During gun season, this lead time extends to 12-14 weeks for sausage products.
- Please plan accordingly and be patient.
Pickup Timeframe
If your final product is not picked up within 4 months of receiving a notification that it is complete, we reserve the right to donate any product after 4 months from the first date of attempting to contact a customer for pickup.
Pork Percentage in Products
- Products with 50% of pork added: Bratwurst, and all other fresh products.
- Products with 40% of pork added: Snack Sticks, Summer Sausage, and Smoked Sausages.
Weight Loss Expectations
Some products may experience weight loss during processing:
- Summer Sausage: 20% loss
- Snack Sticks: 28% loss
- Smoked Sausages: 25% loss
- Bacon: up to 50% loss
- All Fresh Products: No loss
